Just 12 Minutes A Day Could Fend Off Chronic Stress
19 May   by Lisa

Stress and a bad diet can be killing you!  But now you can manage your stress, enhance your mood, and clear your mind.  Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, studies a particular kind of yogic meditation called Kirtan Kriya.  They found that is type of meditation can have positive affects against psychological stress which in turn supports specific enzyme activity that is linked to longevity.

This enzyme is called Telomerase.  Telomerase helps maintain the length of your Telomeres which are your biomarkers for aging.  If you can keep the length of your Telomeres from shortening, studies are showing that you can actually fend off the affects of aging and chronic disease.

You've heard meditation is good for us.  You probably know meditation is good for us.  It's proven meditation is good for you.  So start meditating!  What do you have to lose?  We can all make time for just 12 minutes a day to improve our health.

Getting Better As We Age
01 May   by Lisa

There is lots of research being done on anti-aging.  And a lot more studies still need to be done to get a grasp on what it is that really makes us age and how we can counteract that.  The study of epigenetic processes include looking at external factors such as diet, lifestyle and environment.  These factors that cause influence are likely to start at early age (even before birth) and continue through the life cycle. These epigenetic changes identified to date could be used as potential 'markers' of biological aging and could be used for anti aging therapies in the future.  Many of the studies have been performed on animals however there has been research done on humans as well.  And, many of the animal studies can provide important clues needed in the anti aging field.

According to the Longevity News Digest, "There's a lot to be said for aging. The passage of years offers many opportunities to master skills, figure out solutions to the issues of youth, earn the resources and connections needed to be self-sufficient and confident... and much more. You can build a great life, given just the time to work on it and a modicum of common sense... and then keep building on the foundation of that great life. In some ways, as humans age, it can just keep getting better.".

Are You Dealing With Health Concerns That Just Won't Go Away?
07 Apr   by Lisa

As you age, your body just doesn't seem to do what it used to.  It doesn't look the same or act the same (darn it!).  Often you may develop common ailments associated with aging that just won't go away.  Some of them are just nuisances and some of them are diagnosed as chronic illnesses.  Regardless, what ever they are, you don't want them!

These ailments take so much out of you.  They zap your energy, strength, time, money and positive state of mind.  But what do you do?  If your primary physician just wants to cure your symptoms, you probably have prescription medications that you have to get refilled every month.  Now that's a nuisance in itself!  You may even have to get your lab tests done every so often.  That can be costly!  But does your primary physician work with you to get to the bottom of what is actually occurring in your body?

If you have a great relationship with your doctor, feel he is working with you on treatments that actually help you without piling on extra medications or changing medications all the time, then this article may not be for you.  But if you are having difficulty at all, you will want to read this:http://www.maxlife.org/articles/2012/03/read-this-live-longer.asp
