When You Eat May Be Nearly As Important As What You Eat
19 May   by Lisa

A study on mice from the Salk Institute for Biological Studies found that eating at routine times and fasting for longer periods of time may actually cancel out the adverse affects of some obesity-linked diseases.  Although this is a study on mice, it may be easily translated into being beneficial for humans.

The Salk study found that the body stores fat while eating.  It starts to burn fat and break down cholesterol after only a few hours of fasting.  They found that when we eat often, we continue to make and store fat.  This causes our fat and liver cells to balloon which results in liver damage.  This can be seen in our day and age as we have more and more people diagnosed with Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, or "NAFLD".
